History of Candles

Candles have been used as far back as early Biblical times where they were used solely for lighting in homes. Greek and Roman candles were made of flax thread coated with wax and pitch,
while other couriers used coconut oil, palm oil, beeswax and olive oil to make their candles. Bayberry wax was refined to make their candles. The early candles were made of tallow and it wasn't until the 1800's that paraffin became the chief ingredient in candles,.

Although electricity has replaced candles as the main source of lighting, candles have been used for other important things such as festive decorations, the calm and serenity it gives in religious ceremonies and even for romance as well as for warmth and comfort it evokes for us. Candles will continue to be used for these very important purposes for years to come,
